Allied Health Referrals
It is possible for Physiotherapists to book their patient directly into our rooms. If there is a GP referral for the patient, the Medicare rebates are higher, and the patient can be seen directly by a surgeon. Otherwise, our Sports Medicine team will need to see the patient first. The patient’s GP will be notified and approached for input where required. Patients referred by allied health providers will always be advised to return to their referring provider.
We do also see uninsured patients, but recommend referral to Ballarat Health Services if the patient is seeking free treatment. Patients without insurance will be contacted where possible prior to their appointment to ensure they are familiar with the fees, especially if surgery is required.
BallaratOSM will be embracing My Health Record as it becomes a useful resource.
